Exorcism Scare in Saskatoon: Demonic Possession Investigated
Real exorcisms may be just as frightening and even more common than you might think. We usually imagine they only happen in extremely exotic or religious locations. Which is why it came as a shock to hear that in March this year the Catholic diocese of Saskatoon was called to respond to a man thought to be demonically possessed. No rite of exorcism was performed, but media coverage of the case reported Saskatoon’s Bishop Don Bolen suggesting the incident meant the Church needed to prepare for future exorcisms.
As the Church went into damage control, Think Again! TV went into investigation mode. Wanting to get our own answers, Think Again! TV correspondents in Saskatoon, Vancouver, and Toronto document the case, explore the nature of exorcisms and discuss the science behind demon possession claims.
Featuring comments from Saskatoon’s Bishop Don Bolen and interviews with James Brayshaw Jr., a former member of a charismatic pentecostal church who spent years with a spiritual warfare team casting out demons and Centre for inquiry science advisor and psychiatrist Rob Tarzwell.
